Subscriptions.
At the present time, subscriptions are £150 per year collectable in September, January and May (£50 x 3). This is split between the three Sections, comprehensive insurance, the running and upkeep of our own HQ and The Scout Association’s Membership Fee.

Gift Aid.
The Group asks all families to sign a Gift Aid Form to enable 8th Cheam to claim the basic rate tax paid on subscriptions back from the HMRC (currently 25p for every £1 you give).

Communication.
Information is sent home via email, WhatsApp as well as by letter. Please make sure we have your up to date contact details.

In common with many other organisations, the Scout Association maintains a record of its Adult members/helpers on a data base called 'Compass'.

Where to find us...

Flexible volunteering – can you?
We as a Group depend on parental support to continue to provide quality Scouting to the young people in our Group. Parents / guardians are asked to help at meetings on a rota basis, which is produced by the Section Leaders at the start of each term, and to possibly help with other activities such as hikes, fun days and camps, also to join our Fund Raising committee to help at our social events.

When parents volunteer to help, we ask you to fill out an on-line DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) form as it is now compulsory when working with young people. It is totally confidential.

Financial Help.
We appreciate that money can sometimes be tight. If you need a bit of help with the cost of subs or activities etc, please have a quiet chat with one of the leaders. We try to make sure cost doesn’t prevent a young person being involved in Scouting.

Photographic Permission.
During your child’s time in Scouting, on occasion’s, photographs and videos of your child taking part in the Groups or District Scouting camps / events / activities may be taken. Sometimes these photographs or videos may be used in the Group, the District or the County newsletters or web sites, or on social media such as Facebook etc, submitted to the local newspaper or put on display to promote 8th Cheam and Scouting in general to the public.

To comply with GDPR and 8th Cheam’s Data Privacy Policy, we ask for your permission before we take or use any photographs/videos of your child at any camp/event/activity that may be used in such publicity material. We will not publish any address details or personal information of any of the young people in any captions associated with any of the photographs or videos taken.
